About Us
BIOPHIL is a manufacturer of sustainable raw materials, B2B products and consumer products derived from hemp stalk. BIOPHIL established its first production facility in Lumberton, North Carolina in September 2022, and is actively pursuing expansion into other regions, including Mexico.

Our Mission
We are committed to delivering performance-grade plant-based materials and products that help manufacturers and consumers improve quality and functionality as well as reduce their reliance on inputs that are non-renewable, non-biodegradable or otherwise harmful to the environment.
Our Story
Ancient Natural Fibers. New Technology.
Since day one, we have been working to enhance modern American manufacturing with natural hemp fibers, which have been used by mankind for over 10,000 years. While we began by creating a reliable supply of hemp hurd and fiber, innovation and product development have always been central to our purpose.
Steady Growth. Secured Future.
Laying the Groundwork
Working closely with farmers and leading universities like NC State and Clemson, we began by seeking out hemp seed varieties suited for U.S. climates and testing their scalability, designing and building a pilot decortication line, developing a clean fiber process for textiles and non-woven products, and experimenting with regenerative fiber degumming.
Investing in Infrastructure
BIOPHIL acquired a 94,000 SF warehouse close to its farmers in Robeson County, NC — a disadvantaged region per the Council on Environmental Quality and a Tier 1 Distressed County per the State of North Carolina, but also the state’s largest agricultural region close to its farmers. We upgraded the building to a high-capacity manufacturing facility and piloted equipment with a regional machinery partner to prepare for full-scale production.
Scaling Production
We transitioned from a pilot system to a high-volume manufacturing process with new decortication, cleaning, blending and spinning lines. We also further upgraded our electrical capacity for future growth and installed safety systems, and we added dust collection, seed storage and a workforce training space.
Future Growth
We also entered into longer term supply contracts with farmers to ensure a resilient local supply chain. We now have the farmer network and processing capacity to produce up to 60 million pounds of hurd and up to 15 million pounds of fiber annually (depending on specifications), allowing us to enter into large-scale supply contracts with manufacturers.
